Our story and core values

Our story and core values

In 1993 Juha Tiilikainen had a vision when he bought his first wooden waterbus M/s Monica. The vision was to provide unforgettable, unique, and professionally executed experiences out at sea. We have now successfully been implementing that vision at JT-Line for close to 30 years.

We are a shipping company focused on waterbuses, based in Helsinki, Finland, and we own 9 different vessels, ranging from quaint and atmospheric wooden waterbuses to larger iron ones. The company is still owned by its founder Juha Tiilikainen.
Our mission is to make Helsinki’s archipelago accessible to all, whilst being considerate of the environment.

VALUES

Professional staff, a warm work environment, and safety at sea

At JT-Line we work as a team, which is especially important at sea, and our employees have effectively become a part of our big JT-Line family. Our company’s strength lies in our professional staff who practice good seamanship, and ensures the safety onboard all of our vessels. Our friendly staff will serve you in at least Finnish and English, often in Swedish too, and depending on who is working, sometimes in other languages too.

Tolerance and equality, and running a productive business of high quality

For us, our customers are all equally valuable regardless of religion, appearance, sexual orientation, or political views. We want to allow people to relax onboard our vessels, and continue their journey onwards feeling happy. We believe that by upholding a high quality of service, we can also refine our operations long-term, to achieve a more sustainable future.
